Road to Success - 6 Gallon Fluval Edge

Nice colony, FTS tomorrow. :)

I have had a pretty stable edge for over 2 years . . . here are my recommendations (sorry I didn't see this post sooner):

- Save you money and buy a nice LED replacement light. I went the MR16 builds and CF hacks and just wasted a lot of money trying to get it right. I built my own LED light 2 years ago because there were no good options that would fit neatly for a reasonable cost. If I were to do it again I'd buy an AI nano.

- I'm running an MP10, but mostly because I had it in my 55 gallon I lost due to a 1.5-week power outage over a year ago; so I had it. Previously I was running two small hydor pumps on a cheap wave maker outlet/power strip. That worked fine.

- I do 2 1/2-gallon water changes a week. I buy pre-mix because it's more consistent and more convenient than mixing my own (and the tank is in my office).

- I been running Chemipure elite for a little less than 2 years and I think it really helps. I have zero hair algae and only deal with cleaning the slime off the glass.

- I feed the tank 3 times a week. I directly feed the corals and whatever they don't get feeds the fish, crabs, etc.

- Be very selective about any fish you add. Avoid clownfish as baby/small ones get too big too fast. I've got a tail spot blenny and a red elongated dottyback. Both have been doing great!

That's my $0.02

Hmmmm I'm sure this tank isn't running anymore but how did it turn out? I'm thinking on setting one up soonish
For filters thought I want to do live rock and add chemipure as well to the chamber. Lighting will be ultra bright reef led with a mp10 for flow from an old tank.
