Hi all
So, nait002, steve414, and prugs decided to take a road trip to check out some Chicago-land fish stores. First off I needed some blueberry pancakes, so naturally we stop at one of Americas finest eating institutions: The Cracker Barrel.

I loaded up on some pancakes, others enjoyed Grandpa's breako.

Someone wanted a memento:

First stop was Oceans Floor, I picked up a real nice Achilles tang $70.

Next stop was Coral Paradise, I picked up a large pink spotted shrimp goby $30.

Next up was Sea Schor. I think we only bought some DT's oyster eggs here.

Sho Tank was up next. I got a female blue throat for my lonely male. She was $35.

Next was Sharkys Reef. Picked up some sweet zoo's and the big green thing in the picture above. Each piece was $38.

Overall, a good trip. The laughs in the car were great. Slightly disappointed in the selection in the stores. A couple of stores did not seem to be on par as they have been in the past. Cant wait to go again. I probably forgot some stuff but the other guys can chime in.

I know someone is going to ask, there were no filter socks used on this trip. Although they were in the car.

Hey Josh-

Sorry I missed this trip. Had some paternal duties to attend to. I actually had to change a diaper, and that was the last straw-next time, my wife's hair appointment gets cancelled!

Those Blue Throats were pretty nice huh? I was just telling nait about them the night before. I may go get the one with my name on it this week. What do you think?

Let's hear what everyone found in IL. Always love to hear about road trip stories. When you are ready to make the trip to Rod's, I'd love to go.

You know we were going to head up to the frag swap this weekend, But intstead a friend of mine bought a tank this weekend. So on our way back from picking up the tank on the southside of chicago. wOn our way back we stopped at Sea Schore for the first time. I ended up with a Green Millie. The guy said they had no select cause they took everything to the frag swap. They had a nice blue stag in his display tank I wanted him to frag, bu appartenly it was a no go. Know where I could get one? They did however mention a bunch of guys piling out of a minivan that day.

Hey John
The blue throats were nice, I couldn't pass on her. The one with your name looked real nice. Nice and fat and eating krill. Yeah, the trip was real nice, we had a vacant spot for someone, next time I hope we don't have any vacant spots. It was good time!!

I picked up a 6 line $20,some lps for $38 really big rock and some zoo's at sharkys a red milli frag for $15 at oceans floor. I think the best moment was the first bite of the italian beef sandwich from sammys it was right by sharkys. The worst moment was the guy at coral paradise that sad that tri color frag is $50 bucks it was a 2 or 1 inch frag, and the week before i got a hole colony form sea schor for $35 bucks same color.

You must be thinking of the blue dot jawfish. Max said $140 & it was there last of 6. It looked really nice, but they do jump.

Coral paradise had a yellow head jawfish for $35, also a jumper.

We also bought the illusive black eggcrate. 2'x4' sheets for just under $9 with tax.

At Seashor I got 8 scarlet hermits for $15, sweet deal.

Yep that's the one Prugs. You happen to see that blue stag they had in the fromt of the display tank at Sea Schore???? One day I too will own I frag like that.
Hey Josh I was wondering if you have another piece of elkhorn for sale? LMK

Well I'm tired a s hell from plowing all night but I might as well get these pics up before something happens to them. I bought a Lps and a Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse from Sharky's. They had some great deals on their Lps. I paid $38 for the coral and $47 for the Wrasse. The reason things were picked over was due to the Rockford Frag Fest. My best moment was "the whole trip" except for Coral Paradise. We were at Ocean's Floor and the kid gave us all a free pack of Uber frag holders to try out. That's right free. We get to Coral Paradise and the dude there tries to pimp the same dam pack for $5 for 10 holders. Crooked?
Well here are some pics hope you enjoy.........

I forgot about that uber-plugs thing. Pretty sketchy if you ask me, I guess they were suppose to be free samples.

How is the male blueT. acting with the new female?
Has he been aggressive?
Any problems?
let me know I am looking to get a pair of them (the hawaiian).

So far so good. They are actually doing better than I thought. At first they kept their distance, but last nite they were swimming around together. I heard grunting as well yesterday. It scared me, I thought my tank was cracking. But then one of them did it a few more times yesterday. I couldn't believe it was as loud as it was. I guess this is normal behavior. All the others seemed to be normal last nite as well.
