Hi all -

Heading to Roatan, Honduras in March. Anyone have any recommendations on dive spots and/or outfitters? Looking for shore dive spots too. Might try to get some fly and spearfishing in as well.

If you go in on a cruise ship when you get off at the dock if you have someone take you to the resort/ beach area to the far left side of island. There will be a beach area and dock. There is a ton of great snorkeling there as far as dive spots I wish I could be of more help. It has been 6 yrs since I was there so when I say far left I your not on a cruise ship you won't have any idea what I am talking about. There is nothing to see in Roatan, great diving and snorkeling thought. Have fun

I was just there last week from a cruise. We did the zip line through the jungle it was awesome !!!!!!!!!!!

My family and I went there a few years ago on a cruise ship and it was amazing, only wish I had more time. I've been snorkeling everywhere in the carribean and this was by far the best. We went to West End (main tourist beach area) and I hired a guy with a boat to take me and my nephfew out a few hours.

Have not been for years but stayed at Anthony's Key Resort. Lots of diving. Would rate better than average. Some walls and deeper reefs. Anthony's is [was] a professional outfit. Restaurant served good food. Check your airline connections- especially this time of year. You need to get to La Ceiba as early as possible. Back when I was there Roatan's airport had no lights and the puddle jumper pilot, due to darkness & thunder squalls, to go and we had to over-night in La Ceiba. This is not Cayman or the Bahamas: its very third world. The people are sweet, be patient you are on island time. Enjoy!

i didnt do any diving or snorkeling in roatan but did end up with some really cool monkeys climbing on my head! you should be able to find some great spots pretty easily. hard to go wrong in caribbean anywhere. enjoy!

+1 on Anthony's Key - I've been a couple times and had good experiences both times. The Dolphin encounter is something i will do every chance I get.
I also stayed at Romeo's - unless they have changed hands you could not make me go there again. Divemasters and diving were uninspired, food was inedible.
