Rock anemone

Lets just start with this, i am a complete newbie when it comes to anemones, i hardly know where to start haha. I have a few soft corals in my tank and they are looking amazing now. Everything is going smoothly for a couple weeks now so i'm starting to look into what will be my next addition. In another post over in the soft corals forum i asked for some input on bright colored soft corals and someone had mentioned that rock anemones would be good granted there not soft corals. But they do look absolutely stunning. so if someone with experience with them could shine some light on this subject for me it would be great, are they safe to put in a tank with soft corals, will they harm fish, and do they need any extra calcium, iodine, magnesium, ect.

Thanks for any help!

Otherwise what anemone would you recommend for a beginner that would not be likely to cause harm to other corals/fish

Mini-maxi anemones are good too. Maybe not as colorful as Rocks but still good and hardy. Bubble Tip Anemones are hardy and normally won't hurt fish but needs a stable tank chemistry.

I have had about 20+ fluorescent rock flower anemones and a handful of plain colors. They were in a 24" deep tank with plenty of light (good leds). I didn't specifically spot feed 20-30 nems, but I would turn off the pumps and blow food down toward them with a turkey baster. They survived OK but never grew much, in fact some got smaller.

I moved them to a 16" tall shallow reef tank where it's much easier for me to spot feed them. In just a couple of months they are growing and looking healthy again. If they have rock with even small holes they seem to settle in and not move. But they do like being on vertical surfaces or down where the rock and sand meet. Unless they have a really good hole to hide in, they don't care to be up on flat, horizontal, exposed surfaces.
