Rock beauty

I was wondering if anyone has had luck keeping a rock beauty angel for any length of time? I hear they are tough. Found one about 4 inches looking good and eating at my lfs.

I kept one back in the day for about 3 years, ate everything but you have to supplement its diet with algae or it will lose its colors.

Back in the day I didn't have any live coral, lights weren't good enough to keep them alive so it was a fish only tank. As for algae, I usually mixed whatever I could find in his meaty diet, if you mix bits and pieces of algae in mysis or similar he will go for it.

I have had my rock beauty for about 6-7 months now and I feed it NLS Pellets and algae sheets. I collected the Rock Beauty off the coast of Florida.

In the wild they will graze on algae but don't mind nipping at hard corals, anemones and especially feather dusters. They seem shy and like their caves, but will cover a lot of territory on their feeding rounds.
