When browsing reef forums, people constantly ask what kind of anemone they should get. This question almost always comes from people with small tanks, poor lighting and relatively little experience.
Yet the response is overwhelmingly for the BTA (smattered in with the "you don't have the right lights - tank too small - tank not mature enough" responses).
I'm wondering if people simply aren't familiar with Rock/Flower anemones or if they forget about them.
My first nem was a Flower anemone, and we got it when our tank was about a month old. It was one of our first inhabitants. All under pretty weak PC lighting. We are about 2 years in now and have upgraded and moved since, and this nem is doing great. Went from about 1.5" to about 6" since starting and has NEVER had a problem or complaint.
So why do I seem to be the only person making this recommendation?
