Rock/Flower nems

Well, it's official, this has gone from growing interest to full on obsession for me. I've picked up a handful of these beautiful anemones over the last month and I can't seem to get enough of them. Anyone local have any photos of them to share? Also, if you have a lead on where to pick up some awesome ones locally (North Eastish Ohio) that would be awesome, I just grabbed the last one bluefish had today. I'll try to get decent pictures of the ones I have this weekend and get them posted. Happy reefing folks and have a great weekend, cheers!

A couple recent pictures i took of some of mine:

They're actually super easy to keep. They're light demands are fairly low, I've got mine on the bottom and shaded underneath a ton of kenya tree, enough current so that food (mysis shrimp) is being carried to them with some supplemental spot feedings. I'm up to 8 now from two different sources, (7) from aquarium care center web site it was a 7 pack $30 a piece after shipping and they ranged in size from just smaller that a baseball to quarter sized, and 1 from blue fish bigger than a golf ball for $40, that one isn't in the pictures yet. The attached images are the 7 (minus the quarter sized one as I can't get a good picture) from aquarium care center. They're not great pictures but you get the idea.

I might sacrifice and arm and or leg to find one that looks like this.

Nice collection! I've also become a fan of them. My first one was just the common green type and it was with me for a couple of years before I sold it after shutting down the tank it was in. Now that I've started up the new tank I picked up my first ultra a couple of weeks ago and have another on its way from DD.

This one is only about the size of of a quarter and is a beautiful orange/red in the right light.

Here are some better pictures of some of the rock nems all settled in, compared to the other shots I put up where it was their first day in the tank. I couldn't get nice pictures of all of them but here are the nicer ones I managed. The second picture is the one that's about nickel/dime sized.

Any idea why the mouth on my new one looks like this? It came from DD last Saturday and looked like it was completely inside out when I first introduced it to the tank but after a short time maybe 15-20 minutes it went to looking like this. It seems to be fine but looks odd.

Is that white stuff coming out of the mouth? It's possible that it was a stress induced spawn. I've read a few instances about people getting their rock nems in the mail and if female there have been new born baby nems in the bag and males have released sperm while being shipped. Just on what I can see, from the picture, it looks like that may be a male rock anemone and it had a stress induced spawn. Is it fairly sizeable?

It's actually orange around the mouth but nothing is coming out it looks more like it's open about the size of a pencil eraser. It's probably about 2 1/2" across.

Oh ok, it could still be the result of stress from shipping. Where I a gambling man I'd say the mouth will probably finish closing up in the next day or two. These anemones seem to be fairly stout critters and all of its anatomy looks to be intact. Was the foot still in good shape when you received it?

It's foot seems fine. A couple of nights ago it expelled something from it's mouth and then released from its spot and was on the sand bed on the other side of the tank so I put it back in the original spot and it stayed for a couple of days but is now back in the sand right under the rock it was attached to.

What color was the stuff that it spit out? Brown? If so poo. White? Could be sperm? As the for the walk about, that is kind of surprising given that everything that I've ever read about them is that they tend to not be wanderers. I've seen other people say that the rock nems seem to enjoy "snuggling" with each other, try putting them next to each other close enough to be touching and maybe the newer one will stay put.

Unfortunately it did not. I'm kicking myself for not taking pictures of it upon arrival and emailing it to them I'm assuming they probably would have made it right had I done so.
