RODI is up!!!

Bought a unit from bulk reef supply and hooked it up in about 20 minutes. Great stuff and so far I am LOVING IT!!!!

I feel big time now. :spin3:

Take that feeling and turn it 180 degrees. Thats what its like when you realize you left it running overnight and your floor is covered in water. The sinking feeling is terrible.

Make sure you have float valves and an asov. If your filling buckets do it in a bathtub or sink in case you forget. Enjoy your new RO unit :)

Auto Shut Off Valve.

If you have a float valve it shuts the RO unit off when the float pressurizes.

An alternative is a float switch and solenoid.

Automatic shutoff valve. It automatically shuts off the supply water when the float valve closes. If you have the BRS Plus unit it came with one.

Got it all fellas. I went all out!!!! (In a sense) Got up this morning and the bin was full (40 gallons). The Auto shut off and float valve worked great.

No more driving clear across town for water.....

No more waiting till they are open.....

I can do water changes anytime I want.

Can ya tell I am still new and still excited?

Good to hear! One thing to remember though is that float valves, like any other mechanical thing, can fail. I recommend putting a bulkhead or uniseal in your bin right above the float and plumbing it to a drain.

That's a great idea but I'm not going to do it. lol, it defeats the purpose of saving space since I have mine up on a stand.

I have a ball valve in the line right before the inlet to my holding tank when not in use I close it off. Then after I take water from the HT I turn it back on.

Awesome to hear you got your RO/DI system up, I just recently got mine too. Great advice from the other members on the auto shut off and float valve precautions.

I finally got around to setting up my RODI system properly, more or less.

Now I have a boost pump, which brought down the TDS a little and really improved the production rate. There is a float switch on the collection bin, and a pressure switch on the fill line to shut the pump off when the float switch closes.

My only remaining modification is to put a 3/8" line in the bin just above the float switch, and plumb it to a "T" in the drain line, just in case the float switch fails. Luckily I'm able to do this since my drain is lower than my water bin.

Everybody has a DI water flood one ow twice. But, DI water doesn't really stain anything and is nowhere near as much of a mess as saltwater.
