RODI question

I tend to have a little more down to earth approach on many things, RO/DI included.

Very few actual manufacturers, many re-sellers - and when tagged for "aquarium", the price often doubles or triples.

Here - go build you own:

http://stores.shop.ebay.com/H2O-SPLASH__W0QQ_armrsZ1

You can add in-line flow meters, TDS meters, build a 2,3,4,5 or whatever stage, build 50 gpd, 75 gpd, whatever you want.

If you look at the part numbers on the products, it's the same as the more expensive units.

My $.02 worth :D

Or try http://www.thefilterguys.biz/ro_di_systems.htm The Filter Guys. Good service and fair prices.

I've always heard nothing but positive comments about this company, and I have had spectacular success with H2O splash, but...regarding price...just a for instance:

Filter Guy's coconut carbon block filter, 2 micron, $14 plus $12.50 SHIPPING?!?! equals $26.50?

H2O's coconut carbon block filter, you choose 1-5-10 micron, $5.79 plus $5.95 shipping equals $11.74.

Going from memory, the filters from H2O splash are from the same company as the Filter Guy's, sans the expensive "Time to reorder The Filter Guys" sticker. :D

It does appear that the Filter Guys have some competitively priced RO/DI units, it just looks like they are making their money on the replacement filters.

I am 100% certain their membranes are the same, aside from the price and shipping ;)

Filter Guys 50 gpd Filmtec membrane $48.50 shipped

H2O Splash 50 gpd Filmtec membrane $37.90 shipped

I like to save money whenever possible - especially if it's for the exact same product!
