I'm in the market for an upgrade since my filter's are going bad anyways, is the refurb 90 from dpectrapure the best deal or there is a maxcap system on craigslist for$90, thoughts?

Love my Spectrapure 90. I have the double TDS meters and works flawlessly. Never had the other brand so I can't speak for it.

Spectrapure is local right by Aquarius. Wish I had known that when I bought mine of a different brand. Been to thier place picked some stuff nice folks and helpful.

Same here, love my MaxCap! I believe it has paid for its self in the year I have owned it as the cartridges and media last MUCH longer than the other junk systems being sold.

If you can, go MaxCap and unlike many other things in this hobby, you'll never need to upgrade or buy another system, unless you switch to their UHE system...

im talking about 2 spectrapure units, either the refurb 1 or the maxcap off craigslist

You're looking at the 90 refurb with a 4 stage? If so and the Maxicap is a 90 then I'd get the Maxicap as it is a 5 stage.

Have a spectrapure unit and I love it, refill cartridges are pretty reasonable too.

If you buy the used Maxcap I would replace all cartridges and membrane before using
