I'm in the market as well. If I got the Rodi with drinking water kit, I know there's a cutoff to the di part and the Ro is drinking water. Would there be any chance that the cutoff can fail and the di part will leach into the Ro drinking water?
Any system can be converted to one with a drinking water system..
Typically this simply involves a "T", a check valve, a pressure tank and a faucet..
You absolutely want the pressure tank or you will just have a faucet with a "dribble" coming out of it.. If you plan to drink a lot of the water then get a larger pressure tank.. 2.5G pressure tanks are common and typically too small for extensive use.. You will get maybe 2 gallons then have to wait another hour to get more,etc.. (for the most part)
There is no chance of a failure either..
Not trying to start a war here (but it will)
Despite what you have heard there is no real proven information that drinking RO/DI water is bad for you. Many people do it..
Most simply don't like the taste (or lack of taste) with drinking DI water and most enjoy a bit of "minerals" left in the RO water for "taste" purposes.. But its not going to kill you at all.. Its not going to suck your insides out..
Bottled water is typically RO/DI water "with minerals added for taste" as printed right on the label..
Thank you all for the inputs. I'm leaning towards getting the Spectra Pure MaxCap 2:1 Manual Flush 90-GPD RO/DI System - MC-RODI-90-10-MF but hesitant on spending $300 on it and then spending another $100 on a universal drinking water kit from BRS. What do you guys think?
Anything by BRS, Marine Depot, or SpectraPure you will not be disappointed with. Either way I don't think any of them sell a kit that comes with a pressurized drinking water tank and faucet -- I think you will need to buy it separately either way.
Personally I couldn't see myself spending an extra $100 for the SpectraPure over the other 2, but people seem to swear by them, so there may be some merit to the price.
What are the other systems you are talking about ssick? Appreciate your input. Thanks.
Just watched the video on it and it states that you get 15% off. This might tip my decision towards this system. Thanks.

If your looking to utilise the waste Ro, drinking is one option or another could be setting a tank in the attic and having a gravity feed to ur toilet cisterns and a cut off from the central water system. Just thought I'd throw that one out there as its a great way to use that abundant waste![]()
