Yeah, it is amazing! If you look through the ingredients list, it basically feeds EVERYTHING in your tank!

ouch.. is it worth the shipping ?

Ouch is right! This is what I just found online:

This food requires refrigeration or freezing, thus needs to be overnight delivered and additional shipping charges will apply the cart cannot account for. Shipping to most destinations averages 30.00 to 45.00.

If you order through premium aquatics, you can have it shipped relatively cheap compared to some other vendors. You can order an insulated box which holds up to 10 frozen items. The best way to cut shipping costs is to order as many items at once as possible for that price. The one time cost is more, but it will cut shipping in the long run. Rod's food is good stuff.

It's worth trying out, but as I last recall isn't there also someone in your state that sells fish food as well - wasn't it Blue Laguna or something like that?

yikes to ship rod's food to canada from premium aquatics costs $62 bucks !!

yeesh.. anywhere else to get in canada?

I know that it's a food originated from a vendor in the Chicagoland area. I'm pretty sure that the food is only sold at select vendors. I'm not sure, but I doubt that any international vendors would carry it.

Most of the ingredients are fairly common in the hobby though. You could make a similar recipe yourself and have much more food for your dollar. Not as convenient, but a bit more pocketbook friendly in the long run.

No problem, and FYI:

Here's a list of online vendors from the Rod's Reef Website:
Rod's Food can be purchased at; premiumaquatics.com, Saltycritter.com, ofacorals.com, sharkysreef.com, darklordcoral.com,fragisland.com. and more.

Also, here is the ingredient list:
Shrimp, Scallop, Oyster, Clam, Squid, Octopus, Brine, Krill, Mysis, Grouper (or perch), Red Nori, green Nori, Broccoli, carrot, Frozen red plankton, Golden pearl (7 sizes), DTs Oyster eggs, Selco, Fresh hatched brine, Freshly harvested rotifers.

I'm not too sure that I'm crazy about the carrots and broccoli, but I'm not sure that they would have any adverse affects either. To each his own. That being said, I order it when I make a frozen order from premium aquatics.

My current home recipe consists of enriched mysis, enriched brine, green nori, plankton, freeze dried cyclop eeze, rotifiers, selcon, krill, and phytoplankton. I blend and freeze everything but the cyclop eeze and phytoplankton. I dose phyto every other day or so and add the cyclop eeze to my food before I dose the tank. My fish seem to love it, and I've seen good coral growth as well.

I do have a hard time getting any uncooked oyster, clam, squid, or octopus locally though. That's the biggest downfall in my area of trying to make my own. Either way, good luck!

My LFS just started stocking it. The owner told me all vendors are required to sell it for $20. Looks like good stuff, but that's awful expensive.

I've been feeding it to my fish for a few months. Mine have mixed response. Many of the pieces are too big for my anthias, firefish and flame angel to eat, so they try, but then spit it out. Sadly, the food they go crazy for the most is formula flake (and frozen cyclopeeze for the anthias, which they steal from my goniopora).

I probably won't buy again when this bag runs out.

I got a healthy sized sample from Rod when I was at MACNA. Its a great variety mix. I just dont see a point in buying a mixed food like that when you can make it yourself at home.

my club made a pile of fish food a few months ago and people are saying that it didnt do the job very good . i have rods and all my fish and coral go nuts and get as much as they can. in fact i need to give some out to them tonight. and yes my lfs sells it for 20. i think its worth it. the smallest fish i has is a 2" six line and the biggest is a 4" blue hippo

Here in the Chicago area we call if "Reef Crack"cause your fish and corals will go crazy for it.I glad to Rod's getting more attention
