I think you will see them darken up alot more if you can get them out of the bta. Many posters here have had thier onyx lose color in a bta, and it does come back when they get out.

the bubble tip is gone, that is why I am surprised they haven't taken to the sebae yet. I traded in the bubble tip for the sebae.

after some magic last night, I lured one into the anemone...when the lights come on I'll get a picture. the other one will see how much fun the other one is having and certainly join

Well, they both found the anemone now. They keep on spating a little bit, it's kinda making me dizzy they keep spinning around each other. It's wierd, this is the first time I have seen them do this since I've had them.

I'm now turning this thread into onyx clownfish with sebae for dark coloring. I've seen that OrionN has had success with dark coloration with his in a H. malu. This will just be another option (easier) than getting a carpet anemone. I hope everything works out.

I guess that answers that question. New problem...

My female took to the sebae first and when the male went and joined her in the anemone she fought him off to the point that he doesn't go back in the anemone. What's this all about? They have been in the same tank since juvi's and have been happily swimming with each other the whole time. whats with this new aggresion? will this stop with time?

yes, give her a few days for her to let him know that she is boss of their new house too

that's what I figured, I hope he's not too scared to try to go back into the anemone. She will see him and swim over to him as if to lure him to the anemone, but he will not go with her.

I purchased three Rod's Onyx from Premium aquatics several weeks ago. Even at a young age they are gorgeous!

so my female completely kicks out the male from the sebae now. great. the male now took to a duncan coral I have, jeez, what a head ache this new anemone has brought me.

Give them some time....The female will feel lonely soon and will call the male back.

...this is not true for human...

I'm only thrown off because the male is showing submission sigsn (twitching, horizontal movement) and she still drives him away. I just hope that the male is not getting stressed out. He still eats great and is active

It just shocks me because there was no signs of this when they were sharing the bubble tip. how long does this behavior usually last? I'm making sure I look at him carefully to see that there are no broken fins.

are there any other articles/threads that discuss the color change associated with clowns and anemones?? I was planning a tank that would hold almost exclusively rbta's and onyx clowns, but, now, I am concerned the clowns will lose their black colors. any suggestions?

they will, there are many articles in this forum (sorry I don't have the links) that show a relationship between bubble tips and losing black color.

I'd do a set up with a carpet anemone.
