Rod's Onyx

i have no idea ive had them for around two and a half months and when i got them they just had there first stripes so. its a nikon coolpix L11 point and shoot. but myn never stay still so i cant get a good pic of them.

I LOVE this picture (taken from page 2 of the old thread)....and yes, I did just read through 50 pages in one sitting, HA HA.

I assume this is a False perc with a Onyx False perc??? How well do these guys get along??? Of course I closed the other thread so I can't even see who posted it!!!


I am in the process of setting up my 60g and plan to emulate this. Opinions?
 
Does anyone know how old these fish are when Rod sells them. I could have sworn that he sells them when they are 6 weeks old. I have bought some in Nov and they are still the same size as they were when I got them. They are currently in a 24gal tank and I feed them 2-3 times a day. Currently feeding them Cyclopeez, ora glow, rods food, and mysis. All soaked in selcon. I would love to put them in my 90 but I dont want to risk it with my 2-3inch true perc or my very large chalk bass which eat whole pieces of krill in one bite. Sorry no pics, I
 
He sells all different ages, you would need to ask him how old they are when you buy them. What did they look like when you bought them... we might be able to give you a guesstimate.
 
Nice picture, I was aliitle seasick from all that motion, what do you have running that tank? Did you have that same flow when clowns were pups?

its a 50G tank with a vortech mp40W on pulse mode and 3 modded tunze nano streams, i have always had lots of flow in this tank but for the first 3 months i had them they were in a smaller tank with less flow.
 
My folk live 60 miles south of Rod. There in Bourbonnais, IL. in Kankakee county. next time I'm there (probably this fall) I'm going to have to have a road trip up there. Do fish carry well on Amtrak??...LOL

That is some serious flow...

Nice clowns by the way, kind of makes me want to show off my pair of rods onyx but I'm upgrading right now to a 125 ga. I hope they'll like it more then the 10 ga they are currently in only thing is they'll also be in there with my pair of black ocellarius which the female is easily 5x bigger then the onyx female.
 
gsmguy, how old are your pair? maybe i missed it. i have just 1 onyx that seems to take forever to grow. the black never filled in the back
 
my pair is almost 2 years old, and they have been displaying lots of breeding type behavior lately

GSM that's a very beautiful tank! It looks pretty new, how long has it been running? Did you get that tank custom made from Glass Cages?
