Ian dont worry they will host watever you put in the tank for them it just take them a minute to find it. My onyx will host in my torch and duncan and everything else they see. ahhahahahah

Here are some picture of my Onyx they are about a year old now. The smaller clown fish is missing one of the fin like nemo because when i first introduce them the big one bit it off. Crazy clowns.

All that being said. I will not be shipping any clowns for the next few weeks and fairly certian that they will only be available through stores from this point on.

I assume this means no more direct to consumer orders? That is a real shame, because in all likelyhood when the fish get to the "stores" (LFS?) they will go right in the same water as potentially diseased wild caught fish.

Yea... I'm a bit disheartened by the news. I set up a new tank and have been waiting for it to mature so I could get Rod's clowns. When I saw that he wanted to sell to retailers directly, my first thought was that they would put a huge mark up on the clowns, selling his clowns for $75.

Guess I should have pulled the trigger sooner...

rod there should really be guidlines with how your dealers hold the fish I know that I have bought 2 ORA frags covered in redbugs thanks to the LFS... I guess I will have to ask my LFS to order some fish the next time they get food

I'm in same boat with same thoughts. Maybe he will change his mind & take online orders only to eliminate the flood of calls. Kinda of like the Soup Nazi but for Onyx, no clowns for you, next...

i feel all your paini bought a tank to set up just for a pair i sold the pair i had and regret it .....i am luck though cause the store i work at orders the food and he will be carring the little guys so i get to cherry pick them when we do get them .....oh and we will be setting up a tank just for these guys .

I spoke to Rod today and told me for right now he will not sell anymore onyx for sometime the way he used too. But, did say fish store that carry his food will also sell his fish. Rod did have the time and was very nice on the phone. I was sad that I couldn't place an order. But only hope one day I will have a pair of Rod Onyx swimming in my red sea max tank. So for now we must wait and see them at our LFS. Hope someone in New York carrys them.

What store? I see you are in Georgia.

Some LFS might let you intercept the fish in bags before they go in a tank with wild caught.

I know Tim at Keen has offered to do this before at least once on snowflakes and picassos.

honestly getting them before they go in the display tanks is a crap solution they need to be seperated , the problem is that LFS' are places where fish go to become diseased they are worse than bangkok massage parlors
