Rods vs Reef Frenzy

Premium Aquatics sells LRS foods online. You can check out Larry's website to see if any others have been added.

It might also be in a LFS depending on where you live. They have a store finder page here that you can check. If not, they are having a new store promo where they give the store free food to try. Maybe you could talk your LFS into signing up for the trial and you could buy or test some of the food for them?

It's really good stuff compared to everything I've tried and I highly recommend picking up a package if you have the opportunity.

LRS reef frenzy is by far the best food I have ever used in my years in the hobby. It is super clean and fresh.
I as having a phosphate problem from other various foods until I started using it. My fish and corals thank me daily for changing brands!!

When i first tried LRF my blue tang went bonkers:bounce1:, my yellow tang went bananas :wildone: my clowns turned into piranhas :uzi::uzi::uzi::uzi::uzi: and went into a feeding frenzy!! almost killed everything in the tank over it!!
when it was all over with my water seemed as if it had somehow pulled all the yellow pigments out like carbon it was so clean!!:eek2:
So i realized from an unbiased opinion after the hype :hmm5:
That it is a good clean food fresh food, but i can't say it's better than another only different, as such a statement would mean that i am an expert on long term dietary needs of fish and corals and have been studying effects of different brands for many years to see a definitive outcome produced.

I decided to continue using it but i also feed cubes, and other filthy foods for the dirt bag critters in my tank who like that rotted stuff. I even use flakes sometimes as i feel a variety is probably better than a single food source.

I was posting earlier this thread.
I'm still using Reef Frenzy, but i recently picked up another batch of Rod's and now sometimes I mix the two. This way my coral benefit from all the micro particles from the Rod's, and the fish get to fight over the larger bits from the Reef Frenzy.

I use both. Rod's in the mornings, RF in the evenings, along with extra PE Mysis and occasional live Blackworms or a veggie cube. Then I eat my Hamburger Helper and go to bed.

Larry came to our clubs meeting all the way in Connecticut last week. We had the meeting at the restaurant I work for and I made corned beef for everyone including larry. I believe he said he will sell direct if you dont have a lfs that sells it. He wants to support the lfs so you will never see it at marine depot of dfs. All of his food has none of the extra crap in it that your grocery store uses to keep seafood plump. They peel all there shrimp shuck the clams. He said theres a video of him eating it himself. I have a pack havent used much of it only because someone gave me live black worms at the meeting and want to use them before they die. From what he said all tests and all that stuff is on his website.

9 months later and I'm still using Reef Frenzy. The only thing I do differently is mix in some Cyclop-Eeze. My clowns really enjoy the Cyclop-Eeze.

for you guys using Rod's or Lar's food.. is it ok to mix 3 days batch??

I've been mixing different frozens into a squirt bottle and simply squirt it 3 times a day. Wondering if i can break this package up and do pre mixes

I can't answer the 3-day batch question, but as far as daily feeding, I just drop in frozen chunks and the fish take care of the rest. No need to let it thaw for me.

Bringing this back. I wonder about mixing up a batch with rodi water or saltwater in a bottle as well.

Is that a bad ideal? Should i just keep it frozen till i am ready to feed.

I have on a few occasions in the past thrown a frozen cube in the return pump chamber of my sump. As it thaws the pump sucks it up and distributes to the tank.

Is this a bad ideal as well?

Bad idea? I am not sure on this......

I do what you mentioned. I break off a chunk, place it in a small container of salt water, let it thaw, then use my squirter to feed my two clowns.

after each feeding i put a lid on the bowl, place it in the fridge and use it the next feeding. I usually have a few days at a time mixed and waiting.
