One of my 6100's is driving me crazy. Even after replacing the impeller i still get the alarm everyday. I have soaked the pump and components in vinegar/water which will allow it to work for a couple days then the alarm starts, i pull the impeller out put it back and it will run for a day and start the issue all over again. This has been happening for a while and i am to the point i need ur help!

When you replace the drive unit did you replace the upper bearing and bearing bush with the new one that was sent with the new drive unit?

To be honest i dont remember! I bouht 2 impellers a couple months ago and one pump has been fine and one not. I thought i used all the impeller pieces but cannot say 100%.

It is important because the older bearings of a 6100.60 may not fit on a 6100.70, they may be too tight and cause it to stop.

Pry out the bearing bush and check that the top of the magnet shoulder is loose enough to fall through, basically if the prop assembly will drop through and stop at the blades it is the right one. The right upper bearing should have a straight side wall, the older one has a beveled in side wall, this is less important, it should work either way but the older one will be noisier.

ok just pulled the impeller and the end of the impeller near the blades is beveled. Also pulled the bushing and the impeller fits easily til it gets to the tapered end.

I think you found it, the bush bearing should not stop the drive unit at the tapered end, it should fall all the way through and stop at the prop. Can you find the bush bearing that came with the new drive unit. Basically the drive unit has too much friction and eventually stops the pump because this piece is too tight.

I looked last night and no idea where it might be if it came with it...i am suprised it worked at all for the past couple months. Now its not working at all again. Can that piece be bought separate?

I was having the same problem with a 6100 I bought used. I also bought a new one about the same time.

last night it did it again...but now it seems frozen. I cant get the thing to even move at all??

I just ordered another new one as I was fed up, but I would like to get this one working again.

Do you think I should just order new bearings for the old one??

If it is completely frozen it needs to come in for repair. You can send it to me and I can repair it for you but it is a lot easier if I get it before someone has tried to pull the old drive unit out. It sounds like enough calcium has built up to cement it in.

I ran the thing in a bucket of vinegar for 8 hours when I first got it.

I DIDNT take it apart like I shuld have for a piece of equipment I had never used myself.

I did take the magnet out.....but not apart. should I just send it back in??

If so, please pm opr provide a address and I will get that off to you.

thank you so much for the lightning fast response. :)

So you got the drive unit out of the pump? Maybe we can walk through it if that is the case.
