Rookie sump question

I'm putting together my 120 g tank and plan on building my own sump. While researching for ideas I noticed that there's not much mention of carbon. I'm planning on having carbon bags in my sump , just curious why most people don't? Sure there's a reason.... What am I missing? Thanks as always

I've heard some people rant about how carbon doesn't discriminate about what it removes and how it goes about removing stuff. Meaning it will absorb all sorts of things (some good and some bad). I just redesigned my sump (70g tank). Here's my new design (I'm a beginner so I don't think my design will help you much). Lowe's sells cheap glass and will cut it to size for you btw.

Pretty cool simple design. Havnt decided yet if im gonna do a fuge. You could probably do acrylic a little cheaper and use thicker material

$6.75 bucks total for the glass- it's pretty solid. I'd recommend a fuge, seems like from what I've read it's becoming a must.

Nice,

Kinda like mine, only different ;-)

My LR is in my DT, and my chaeto sits in a basket, no sand in the sump.

I use tubs in a tub. Plastic ones that is. My main one is a 50 gallon Rumermaid 'Roughneck', and fits perfestly in the stand of my 125 (long?).
You may have seen my thread on it, so I won't bore you.
