Rose bubble tip anemone

A quick question for everyone, I just bought a cool Frag from my LFS it had all sorts of different things on it, and it also had a small RBTA on it. It is really beautiful!! I was wondering if this type of anemone "need" a clown to thrive? If so, what kind is best for it?

no, anemone's do not need clownfish to survive.

If it really is a RBTA I would remove it as fast as possible as it will kill the corals around it. A picture would be useful for better identification.

Please tell me why to remove it from my tank, you have me really confused

I would also give it time to get larger before considering adding an anemone/clown fish. At that size the clown fish would likely be too big for it and beat it up too much.

Again, I think I prefer not to have any clowns, I was wondering if it "needed" a clown to make it "thrive" not survive. I am pretty sure I knew it didn't need a clown, but do they prefer to have them? Also am I right, is this a RTBA?

Thats really kind of a blanket statement. Although they do move and they can kill other corals if you dont watch whats in its path you don't need to remove one ASAP or it will kill the corals in your tank

I have 2 now after a recent split in my 210g LPS/SPS tank and only have lost a small piece of a frogspawn since I was gone all weekend and our new split was moving and didn't catch it in time. It will only move till it finds a spot it likes and its happy. Our orig is in the same spot it has been for over 6 mths now and the split from it has settled down to one rock also. I didnt want one in there but the wife did but if you keep an eye on it you can watch whats in their path till they settle in.

It looks like one from the pic but its pretty small and no they do not need a clown to survive. My clowns want nothing to do with ours. You just need to manually feed it some krill and or silversides once in awhile since the clowns wont be feeding it for you.

they didnt mean to remove it from your tank. Just to put it somewhere where it has space to find a good spot and grow otherwise it can sting your corals. Thats a nice little rbta though. Good find!
