The Eponymous Bubbles
The bubbles on the bubble tip anemones are quite attractive. Don’t get too attached to that look. They seem to come and go with time. In my experience, most BTAs do not regularly display bubbles except perhaps when disturbed. Bubbles do not seem to be an indicator of health, reproduction or anything other then maybe rough handle (as during collection, shipping, etc.)

also, i have no doubt that any of the bta's are capable of showing more than one color hence their name Entacmaea "quad"ri"color"!~) i just handn't seen it!~)

It came from Aquarium World from Maria and Tony sometime around the end of '03 or beginning of '04, I think it was wild but I could be wrong. It had shrunken to the size of a half dollar coin a few months before the '05 pic was taken. So it was a full turnaround by all acounts! I feel very lucky and fortunate that it survived through my learning curve.

Ya, I figured that was what was up, seems like I skimmed that read before. Me and MikeB were talking about this very thing a few weeks ago and kinda drew similar conclusions. Lovely coral. Some of my girls want me to do an anenome only tank, would be nice, definately would be a noble undertaking; money and bigger house permitting

The first major factor was providing enough light for photosynthesis to take place which I can honestly say was not the case when I bought it. The next step was a major yet consistant amount of water changes to get my water back on track as it suffered from a totall crash prior where every fish was lost, lawnmower blenny, sailfin tang, tomatoe clown and a pink skunk clown, yellow choris wrasse, shrimp goby. Shortly thereafter was when he almost perished and was the size of a coin. Then like the comeback kid with good light, good water, I started a regiment of krill which was just as much of a contributing factor and really helped color up. From the bleached stage I started feeding a half piece of krill every 3 days, which after about 2-3 months bumped up to a whole piece every 3 days. Then once the color was there I just maintaind with mysis(every 2-3 days @ approx 5-10 mysis) and on the odd days will supplement with reefnutrition's roti-feast(miracle in a bottle

Here's a shot that I took yesterday. This is a clone of yours with another in the background.
They too went through a bleaching period due to high temperatures.
The big gal is probably 12-16 inches big and is home to a very aggressive Yellow Stripe Maroon.
