Ross' Massive Build

recently an issue with the sump has come up.. There is a crack where the unseal was drilled.. Now we have to cut out the sump and install a new one..

The good thing as that these 150 ag tubs are only $100.. The bad, a lot of work!!

Other than that, the system as worked really well! It is completely full of fish and everything seems happy

That sucks!, as that is a lot of work. Do you think the pressure of the uniseal cracked it? I imagine that's some good amount of pressure pushing out onto drilled surface - since you KNOW how hard it is to even get the pipe into a seal. Just curious as to your opinion on what caused the crack.

Also - I may need to come visit you guys again here in the next month or so. I can't wait to see the system up and running. I'll message you guys when the time gets closer. Maybe I can bring you some more frags.

Im not sure what caused it.. could have been the water pressure over time, but I bet we cracked it while it was being drilled.. 4 other unseals in the system and no leaks..

However, it could have cracked when we pushed the pipe in.. Hard to say

from glasscages.com... They are a lot of mixed reviews about them, but in my experience they make excellent tanks! and are very helpful on the phone. I would recommend for sure..

system as it currently sits..

I was curious.. What sort of filtration components are people using on their breeding systems? just live rock and water changes? Carbon and algae scrubbers? Any thoughts on bio-media?

I was having the same thoughts, I've been looking into the kaldnes k1 media. It seems to be pretty popular with the pond folks but not a ton of people using it on the salty side of things, though I've come across some breeders using it. I'm in the planning stages of my grow out system but I'd like to incorporate this media in there some how. It looks pretty promising.

I've also been looking into an aquqripure denitrator as well but I'm not completely sold on it.

Ya, I did a water change the other day and the system water was almost yellow.. So I started thinking maybe I should do something about that..
