rotating acroporas

I have noticed my acropora is turning creamish in places where it's in shade on underside of coral not receiving light. I keep it with side facing up. Should I turn it over to give the other side light or leave it as it is? If I leave it alone will it get STN on the dark side? Thanks in advance.

That's just the way it will be, if you move it to the other side eventually the current side will turn creamish. No it will not STN, all acros undersides are going to be brownish/have less polyps just because they have no light hitting there directly.

Ok thanks. I read somewhere that positioning acros horizontally in aquarium allows them to receive more light. Now I'm having second thoughts about this and thinking of placing it with the branches pointing up. Will that be better?

Leave it alone. Don't mess with them, they can get irritated and go south on you depending on their state of health. Acros grow into your tank, literally, their growth pattern reflects the lighting and flow they are receiving. Moving them around is just messing with their mojo. The more they are left alone in steady optimal conditions, the better they grow and color. Everytime you move it, it takes time to settle into the new position, and then it will start growing again. Depending on how optimal your conditions are, that may be days or even months!

This is good info my red dragon is growing noticeably everyday, it's in a cross flow area. Some of the branches are starting to hook. The branches on the back side are growing normal. I was thinking about rotating it.
