How do you tell the different between male and female? I have one and thinking of pairing and researching breeding..

Thanks

There is no sexual dimorphism for this species. Mostly gthe females are bigger. I cant really tell the difference form ym couple. If you have two and they do not fight it must be a pair.

I've read the the the males have pointed tips on either their pectoral or anal fins, and the females have more rounded tips. I've looked at 20 or so that have come through my LFS, and they all have points. I got a smaller one and added it in with my larger one that i've had for a year or so. They've been getting along well for the last 3 weeks, so I think maybe it's a pair. Good Luck, there is some pretty good info here if you search hard enough for it. I believe they will change sex and form a pair if purchased young enough, but again I'm not completely sure.

I've heard/read similar info to what jnowell is getting at...they may be sequential hermaphrodites....

Thanks guys.. I've hit all of the lfs near me. Nobody's got them this week so I'll keep looking.

But of course no thanks to you guys I bought more fish and coral looking for the $25 gramma (spent $100 on other stuff).

: )

in the wild there is one male for ALOT of females. I believe they change sex when the male dies. opposite of clowns.
