Royal Gramma and Algae Blenny confused?

Hello,

I have a FOWLR at the moment and have just two fish..Royal Gramma and an Algae Blenny.

The Royal Gramma from day 1 has been eating flake food as well as frozen mysis/brine shrimp.

The Algae Blenny at first would only take Algae Wafers, in addition to grazing on some of the algae in the tank.

Over the last week or so, the Algae Blenny is now eating flake food and the frozen mysis, in addition to the algae wafers. Also, I caught the Royal Gramma eating some chunks of Algae Wafers.

I'm not concerned, I just think it's funny. I guess it just shows how every fish is different and internet descriptions of fish diet is just a basic generalization and by no means set in stone.

Well, it can be set in stone for some species, but indeed, algae blennies relish a little meat now and again, and grammas will go for any little tasty herbal stuff, especially if flavored with squid as some are... Most fish will eat shrimp or crustaceans; but to remain healthy they have to stick pretty well to their roles as herbivore or carnivore. Rabbitfish is a case in point: a ravenous herbivore that eats toxic plants others won't touch, but a shrimp put into the tank will become shrimp with salad in very short order!
