Royal Gramma not doing good

As the title says....I just bought a Royal gramma and a small flame angel 2 weeks ago. I put them in a QT tank and am running Hypo on them. They both were eating fine until now. The Gramma just sits in the corner and is not eating anymore. The flame is doing fine though.

I just put a tank seperator in the QT just in case the flame is bullying him around. Any other ideas that would cause the Gramma to sit in the corner??

SG: 1.09
amonia, nitrites are at 0
Nitrates are around 5ppm

Thanks

Is there any structure for him to hide in? They are cave dwellers and not having anywhere to hide would be my first guess.

What size is your QT tank? If your medicating them are you changing the water each time you medicate?

Kinda funny though, flame angels can be a pain to get to eat and grammas usually eat everything.

If you raise the salinity, do it very slowly. .002/day. Fish can handle the drop in salinity pretty easily, but the increse needs to be much slower.

Have you done any water changes?

You might also try getting a few smaller pieces of pvc.

I have done the same thing recently with a very small yellow watchman. Large PVC won't provide them much comfort. I ended up making a sandbox for my scooter blennie and the watchman used it more than the blennie. It is a small food/water dish cut in half and flipped over, then glued back together. The YWG hid out underneath and the scooter, sometimes found the sand.

that SG is extremely low. Hyposaline is okay for quick dips but not so good for long term housing. You oughta have that at least 1.023 or better yet, closer to 1.025

What??? I believe you are mistaken.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll first attempt a water change, and add more hiding places.

The SG of 1.09 is for hypo. It is recommeded to have them at this salinity for 4 weeks before adding them to the main.

Thanks again
