RTBA split - how to remove?

Got a RTBA way back and it just keep on growing until last week it split. I now have 2 on the same rock and would like to part with the smaller one if at all possible. How can I remove it without injuring it or killing it.

What is an RTBA worth on the market these days? Trade wise as well? I was thinking $45.00 but I seen them in LFS for $89.00 and higher...

Thanks

Direct a small powerhead at its foot it will most likely dislike the increase in flow and puff up to move, once it is puffed up it will come off the rock quite easily.

Another option is some ice in a bag, a credit card (works on the glass not so much on rocks) but the powerhead option is generally the best/easiest option.

$45.00 is about right for private party, while they sometimes sell for more in the store, they can be found private party from $25-$75 or so.

I don't tend to charge a lot for my clones but depending on the area you live will gauge how much you can get for them, smaller area, less, larger area, you can probably get upwards of $75 for them.

Or keep it in the tank and let them split exponentially :)

Thanks, that is cool to know. The LFS store here had them but they were so small and he was selling them like hotcakes for $60.00. I never seen one that looked good from the LFS.

I got mine through another RC member locally and it just grew like mad with lots of color. My clowns love it and then one day it split. I am just afraid with all the other corals in the area that if I keep them they will eventually get huge and take over. I only have a 60 gallon and before the split the nem was over 12" spread open! It was already hitting some corals that I had to move.

They will continue to split exponentially so unless you want them overrunning stuff it is wise to remove them. Another option is to take them to the store for store credit, but this usually yields far less money.

If you have a Local forum, that is probably the best place to sell them, although I have seen people sell them on RC, but then you may have to deal with shipping (unless local pick up only is expressed).

In general if you want them to split less, don't spot feed (not sure if you were or not), the more you feed them the faster they will grown and potentially split.

+1 one the spot feeding. I was doing this about once a week but feed everything else daily.

I'm inm the same boat. my original BTA has his foot well protected, and the new clone has moved a little bit, but keeps his foot well guarded as well...
