Rubber Spacer Removal

What are the consequences of not using the external spacer on a 1/2 inch acrylic tank. New pump was making noise so I removed the rubber spacer and after trying to align the rubber pins, gave up and left it off. Thanks

more wear and tear on the pump, it is meant to run with the motor and the magnet attached to the blade at a certain distance apart from each other. it could also cause more heat

The pump is not designed to operate without the pin spacer. You will likely damage or break the wet frame over time as a result of the added stress. The pump will also likely run hotter than it's designed to.
