Rubble rock as makeshift baffle in sump?

Hey all. I have a Euro-fil 125 sump, and I want to utilize the middle chamber as a refugium with either live sand or miracle mud. The issue is that the first chamber does not have bottom baffling and there is a 2 in gap at the bottom where the water flows between the chambers.

I realize I could probably put some acrylic in there myself, but I was wondering if there was an option of putting smaller live rock in the space to act as a filter/baffle, as well as something to support the sand bed, yet still allows the water to flow through.

Does this make sense? Is it advisable?

Hello,
You could rig something for sure done all the time. Since you asked i say install needed baffle and be done with it, sure it's maybe a little work now but rig and you have work from now on. I am talking about weekly maintenance with rig job:)

Best of Luck!

Thanks! I've never done any acrylic work, but from what I've read, it's probably not too hard so maybe I'll give it a shot.
