Rubble rock to buy, to take place of bioballs

Hello all,
I have been trying to phase out my bioballs from my sumps, I have quite a lot. And I am looking for some live rock to replace it. First off, do you all agree that bioballs raise your nitrates? My nitrates have been about 20-30 for several months. So anyway, I want to replace them with live rock rubble. If anyone has some, small pieces to put in two 20 long sumps, I would buy it. I do not care what it looks like as long as it's live. Thanks in advance.

P.S. Sorry I missed the meeting, I was bummed, but was on call.

Well, they "sort of" raise nitrates, although indirectly. They are used in a purely oxygen rich environment, so are great for reducing ammonia down to nitrates, but can go no further so leaves the nitrates as a result. The additional problem of detritus accumulation also prevents other means like skimming from removing it BEFORE it starts to break down at all.

I don't have any spare, and need some more for my refugium myself, but check the group rock order thread. I plan to jump in that depending on when it happens (have work travel coming up).

Also, if you have a little room, you might want to read through this thread:

It's a huge thread, but is interesting. Also, I'm partial to any advice from Anthony anyway, so is already planned if/when I may need it down the road.
