Running A Ca And Kalk Reactor

Running a calcium reactor 24/7 and a Kalk Reactor for make up water with Kalk midnight until 6am.
What are the advantages of running bot or can I just run a Kalk reactor and not the Calcium reactor and achieve the same results?

As your colonies get larger I doubt that just a kalk reactor will be able to keep up with your Ca and Alk demands. I for one do not run a kalk reactor or dose kalk but those that do use it primarily to balance their Ph from their Ca reactor.

Kalk also has benefits of PO4 precipitation and improved skimming through saponification, but pH is primarily why people use both.

I used to run both... but I cut back to just my calc reactor.. It is a big 2 tube 10 inch and 8 inch tube... so I didnt need both.
