Running a DC4 21'?

I was looking at adding a DC4 into my wet room to run a couple extra heaters and turn a vent fan and possibly another fan over the sump on and off. While reading the manual, it states that the phone cord should be less than 10'. If I needed 21', is that too long?

The max recommended length is 10 feet, however, I know of several people that have used 50 feet cables without problems. 21' is not recommended but will likely work.

Curt,
My experience with other projects has been that typical flat phone line wire is a poor wire to use for communication purposes. If a 2 pair 22 gauge wire with a shield was used, wouldnt that be a safer bet for distances longer then 10'?
Thanks,
Jeff

For the best noise immunity use twisted pair wire. Pins 1 & 2, and 3 & 4 should be the pairs. Note that as in a standard telephone cord the internal wire connections reversed in the cable (i.e. pin 1 goes to pin 4, pin 2 -> pin 3, pin 3 -> 2, pin 4 -> 1).
