The local LFS is running one and I am concerned about them getting stuck or chopped?

If you are running one, are you running mesh over it?

HELP as I am setting up a new tank...

thanx in advance as always

I don't have them but would suggest if a tail can fit into the slots, use mesh just small enough to keep the tails out.
Smaller mesh will restrict the flow somewhat, defeating the whole purpose.

The problem with panty hose is that it is too restrictive with such a fine mesh.
Better to have something more open, but small enough to stop tails from going through.

vortech sells foam covers for the mp10s and 40s, and I recommend them. they come i packs of 3s. i would use mine for a few days, clean it and switch it out with a new one.

I have had two MP10's in my seahorse tank for 4 yrs, and have used the foam covers with no issues.
If you don't turn the pumps off when feeding though, the mysis/brine will get sucked into the foam cover. No biggie if you change/rinse them frequently...
(One seahorse even used to let the "suction" of the MP10 to pull him onto the foam cover so that he could eat the mysis/brine shrimp caught in the foam cover. He would then swim off when he had his fill without incident!)
The same seahorse would also hitch to the front of the pump or the foam cover, in full blast of the flow. He seemed to enjoy the "spa". Go figure.

Having issues viewing my last post with pics - I can see them when I'm logged in, but they don't appear if I'm not, (where as my previous post do). Can other see pics I posted 2 days ago?
Thanks!

Ive also used 2 MP10's on my seahorse tank for 4 years. I use the foam that Ecotech makes for the pumps and havent had any issues. I keep mine on reefcreast mode at 60% power. The biggest advantage of the ecotech a is the nutrient transport mode. Seahorse tanks are notorious for being detritus factories, so I love how it moves everything to the water column to be filtered out.
