Running water pipe in cealing

I have a my tank as a room divider and its not against any wall. I am tired to lugging 5 gallons of water everyday. So I am going to set up a 30g top off water in my laundry room and hook it up to a ATO. My question is can I run the water pipe thru the cealing? IF not its going to look crappy running against my baseboards.

I have run water lines through my ceiling for similar purposes, when I do its always flexible tubing with no seams. If you are running 1/2"-5/8th" I like to use reinforced tubing with as thick a tubing wall as possible to prevent accidental puncture or kinking. If you are running 1/4" I usually use the Murlok tubing usually used on RO units.

I don't see a problem with running it in the ceiling so long as it's protected from freezing.

a Maxijet 1200 will only have enough push to get water up about 6 feet, the backpressure for running a line floor to ceiling will far exceed the "pushing power" of these pumps.

Maxijets are designed to move water, not operate at pressure, I don't think this will work the way you have intended.

If your makeup is from an RO setup just plumb the RO directly to the tank via the 1/4" RO tubing. Use a float to control the RO. It's worked for me for over a decade. Then you don't need a pump.

GDominy, you are 100% right. Cant believe I didnt think about that.

@Kcress. If I do that, what will happen when the float shuts off, won't the water be wasted thru dirty water side of the ro?

You need a shutoff kit. These kits will shut off the water line feeding the RO unit when backpressure builds up on the "good" water outlet. Pretty cheap device you just have to plumb in... 5 minute install tops.

GDom hit it!
