Rust on stream 2 shaft

Hi there,

I got an upgrade stream 2 about a year ago after sending in an old wore out stream 6100

It's been in use for the year and the metal shaft has some rust on it for sure.

Is this normal?

Thanks,

From the models made prior to July 2010 this was normal, the shaft was 316ti, basically 316 Stainless Steel with about 2% titanium added, it can corrode in the various covered crevices, but it is generally superficial much like the rust stains on stainless steel utensils out of a dishwasher. In July 2010 we changed to Titanium Grade 2 and there are some other upgrades that were made to the drive unit that reduce noise. An upgrade to the current 6105.700 would be the best path but shaft only is also available 6065.709.

Hi there,

sorry it took me this long to get back to this. So what would you recommend? The inside if the impeller shaft is stained brown as well is the impeller itself. The shaft is not too bad looking but rusty for sure.

I think I'll just give you a call on monday and see what we can come up with.

Thanks a lot,

Adam

Something I have been seeing a lot of lately is GFO staining shafts and impellers, it will easily brush or wipe off. The magnet itself cannot rust but iron and GFO media will stick to it and stain it. The same could be happening to the shaft. In general I would just replace the shaft if it is a concern but for the most part this is just cosmetic and may likely be due to just something inert like GFO dust.
