Rust on Tunze 3155 Osmolator pump's shaft

Hi Roger,

I have have been using my Osmolator for nearly nine years. It is a very dependable device. However, I noticed rust on the shaft of its pump today. I have no idea how long it has been there. I am very concerned about this. If this is a manufacturing fault, then getting a new pump will not address the problem.

Can you please explain rust is forming on the shaft?

The shaft is stainless steel and it will rust, it generally won't rust through but some degree of superficial corrosion is normal. This small amount of rust will be harmless to the tank.
