Rust?

I know this is probably a retarded question, but I have a nice spot in my garage for a tank. Will the saltwater tank cause any rust on the motorcycle. I would like to know if anyone has any experience one way or the other.

Salt doesn't evaporate, so you don't have to worry about any saltwater evaporating and floating over to the harley:-) The only thing you would have to worry about is splashing, if it is in close enough proximity.

I had a frag system in the garage. Some salt did end up on the wall 6 inches or so away from the tank. My theory is a small amount is vaporized when the od bubble bursts sending a tiny amount into the air. just keep the harley a sensible distance from the tank.

Personally, I'd be more concerned about the motorcycle fumes harming the tank than the tank harming the motorcycle.

now I know that salt isn't supposed to leave the tank other than some salt creep, but I have some experience with this. I keep the tank in the basement (which is quite humid) and I noticed some rust on my beermiester, pinball machine, and a reading lamp. I put a big dehumidifier down there and ever since things are a lot better. The humidity alone shouldn't have caused the rust, so isn't it a possibility that some of the rust came from salt?

Watch out if your clothes-dryer vents into the garage. My garage is full of lint because of my clothes-dryer. I wouldn't want that accumulating in the tank.

No venting into the garage. The garage is fully finished, actually more like a game room, but I do store the motorcyle in there. I'm just concerned that the bike might rust somehow. The water will not get on the bike, I just want to make sure theres no rusting.

Doesn't look to me like you actually have a garage. Sounds to me like a fish room with a great big door and a sweet Harley on display ;)

Well after thinking this over more(and hearing you describe the "garage") the only way to really give you an accurate anwser is to see some pics of your "garage" hehe:lol:
