Who wants to help me create a brochure for SLASH that we can get out to the Local Fish Stores? I have the checkbook, just need someone with a few skills at designing one...

Let's get this out before winter sets in and get some new blood:)

i could probably actually do this part. The only problem is I leave for mexico in a week and I've been trying to get ready for that. What kind of brochure are you going for (size?)? What info do you need/want in it? Do you have the S.L.A.S.H. art available? I did my shops brochures and they turned out great. Maybe you should email me. teamLUC@gmail.com This may take me a few hours but I'm sure I can pull it off.

That is awesome! I will get some input from smoothdog on Friday when he comes by and shoot you an email!! I think you are going to have to get several complimentary coral donor frags for this project:D

i like the way you think. especially with an upgrade in the works. But I may not be able to do it until after thanksgiving if you wont have the info until friday

After T-Day will be totally cool. Gives us time to put something together with content. I will personally let you have anything out of my tanks.

Glad you got the ball going on this Dave. I have thought about this a couple of times myself but just haven't had the time to do much about it yet. I was personally thinking more along the lines of business cards and signage but brochures would be good too. We'll talk more on Friday.

RiffRaff, thanks for pitching in, help is always welcome. There are probably a few frags to be had from my tank as well. ;)

By the way, I'm an interactive designer by profession (design and build websites and Flash internet content.) Before I went into the interactive stuff, I was an art director/designer in print for years (catalogs/advertising etc.) So, if RiffRaff gets too busy before his trip, I can help out too.

I'm sure Brad "Baron" still has the old brochure template Nook. In the past you spearheaded this project but it didn't come to reality due to cost of printing. But if you think it is best go right ahead. I won't disagree with ya.

Starr next time we meet lets talk. I'm ready to hand over a set of keys to anyone willing to be active. I would appreciate the support.

Heres a little something I whipped up in about 5 minutes
<a href="http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d55/bodypiercer/?action=view&current=slashbrochureoutside.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d55/bodypiercer/slashbrochureoutside.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
figured a full page folded into thirds front and back
slashbrochureinside.jpg

again, this is a quick run through

What would the cost be to print something that nice to good quality? say 500? if it's reasonable like Nook said, he has the check book.

honestly I think what you did is perfect and I wouldn't change a thing... but I guess thats my warped frame of mind.

RiffRaff, that looks pretty damn good. Smoothdog and myself will try to come up with some verbiage this Friday for the brochure. If Starr has any input on it that would be most welcome too.

I think a business card would be a nice thing to have as well. We could give them out to active members to use when they see folks at LFS that look like they are new, or just looking for more.

A decal for a store window would be a nice touch too for folks entering the LFS.

An 8 1/2" x 11" tri-fold is a good size. However, the format should probably be dictated by how it is most often used and distributed. Is this something you mostly want to mail? In that case, the tri-fold is excellent. Or is this something that we are mostly wanting to hand out, say to stores, in hopes that they will post it up somewhere? In that case, just a straight 8 1/2" x 11" front/back format might be better. Or is it something you want to hand to people individually? In that case, a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", printed front & back, and double-up on a page might be the best format to consider.

Do we know how we'll use it?

I was thinking of a tri-fold that could sit in a GEO custom acrylic holder at a LFS counter. But, that is just what I was thinking. Any suggestions?

Riffraff, I'm not sold on 4 different type-fonts on one piece. Are we already assuming we want to incur the expense of printing a 4-color piece, which can involve separation costs? That said, if we're going to go to the expense of printing 4-color (instead of say, 1- or 2-color pms), I'd like to see some color used to frame the photos maybe?

Cheers,
Starr

Sure it can! And that would look good...however, you can pretty much assume you'll need to provide the acrylic holders as well as the printed piece in that situation.

Maybe we should make a list of all the possible uses this would need to cover?

When I used to be part of STL Scion club, we'd go around to different scions that we saw and stuck little 4x6 cards in the side window with info to the site and what not. Maybe tag cars in front of LFS'? Just a thought, more of a car club thing I guess
