Sabae wont attach

Got a nice sebae and 2 sebae clowns at RAP. I had him attached to the rock for about a week then the other day he decided to start floating around. He is sitting in my sand but has not attached himself to anything yet. He has a nice tan color with blue tips so I think he is still healthy. Should I just wait or is there something I need to do to get him to attach to something?

I have heard they may attach to the bottom of the aquarium and just stay on the sand though I dont know if thats true or not. I just picked up a sebae as well, and after staying in the spot I originally picked for him, he moved about 6 inches to the other side of the rock and has been inflating more and more and coloring up nicely with some purple coming in. Pictures would help, how much is he moving on the sand?

Often in tanks and in the wild H. crispa attach in the liverock. Malu, which are also sometimes called sebae anemones, live in the sand. Pics?

Turn off all the flow that is not essential. Give the anemones time to grab a hold of whatever they want. If the anemones were ID'd wrong, they will quickly show you.

Pretty sure it's a crispa
Read they like to live in the sand

That's an h. Crispa and some prefer sand and some prefer the rock work. Since it won't atach in the sand I would try and place it on a rock. Good luck!

Yeah, looks like crispa. Supposedly some will dig into the sand. I personally haven't found that to be the case, liverock being the preferred substrate they attach to. In nature, they also seem to prefer to live in the rock and coral.
