sabae

You can feed the clowns a lot first so they don't eat the food. You can manually chase them away. You can also put something over the anemone (Empty 2 liter soda bottle). If you feed finely chopped foods, the clowns may not be able to pull it all out (or as fast).

i might try the bottle idea. whenever i try to chase them away they get aggressive and attack me or whatever i'm using.

The rare occasion that I feed mine, I just leave my hand close by and take a few bites to the fingers. Clowns feel tough, nem gets fed...everybody wins!

At feeding time, mine will usually take the bigger bits of frozen food that wont quite fit in their mouths and fed the anemone

^^^ Mine do the same thing. I tried feeding silversides and mysis for a while, to no avail. I have recently swithced to squid, and my sabae absolutley owns the squid. He closes tight and doesnt let the clowns in to get at it. Might be worth a try for you. If it doesnt work, you're out 5 bucks for a pack of frozen squid, and the cost of a turkey baster if you dont have it. THen again, everything else in my tank goes ape crap for the squid anyway, so really it's a win win.

Be careful how much, and how often you feed your sabae. It will get quite large fast. In the symbiotic relationship of hosts/hosts your clowns will feed the nem as well. What kind of clown do you have?

jt milstead, I have 2 false percs but the female claims it and wont let the male anywhere close to it! Burkette, how do you feed with the silversides? I cut up uncooked raw shrimp and feed with that. Do you do the silversides the same way? I do have a turkey baster and it comes in quite handy. I did try the squid but he didn't care too much for it.

I just cut the silverside in about quarters, then get a peice in my hand, and stick it in the anemone. They are sticky, they dont really sting me much, but that's how I feed both of my anemones. I have the sabae and a condy. I just stick the food in the tentacles, and then it eats it. I have to keep my hand by the sabae to keep the clown away until he closes, but other than that. Just hand feed them.
