Sad day...

We had to put our dog, Dutch, to sleep today. He's my cutie avatar. His heart was failing and there was nothing we could do for him.

I am so sad.

:sad1:

thats to bad/sad. a good dog is hard to find. better that you did that than let him suffer. sorry to hear teh bad news.

Very sorry to hear. My dog Casey is getting up in years and it's starting to show on her. She has been my buddy for many years. I will miss her dearly when she goes. Think of the good times you've had with him.

Sorry to hear that Becky. :(

I know that you made the correct decision for your dog but it doesn't make it any easier for us.

Sorry to hear about your doggie, Becky:( We had to put our dog, Chelsey to sleep about two months ago...we had her for 17 years and 3 months. It was very tough coming to the point to make the decision to have her put to sleep. We still miss her a LOT even though we have a new pup (Bogie).

Hang in there.

I've only had to put one dog to sleep and its a very hard decision to make, hopefully one that I will never have to make again.

I'm sorry to hear that. I don't know what I'll do when I lose any of my animals...2 siberian huskies and 3 cats.

I'm sorry to hear of the bad news. There is nothing harder except maybe when a human family member passes. And that depends on which one it is.

unfortunatly i've been there.
recently with my dog sparky.
the time may come soon for my cat Jimmy.
he's 21 years old.
still moving, but a shadow of his former self.

i'm sorry for your loss!

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your kindness. I thought I'd share a couple of my fav pics.

Here he is as a wee pup:

And when the princess was about 1 year old, she and he would greet everyone in the neighborhood. This was their favorite past time!

It is very hard to make that decision. My heart breaks for you. I have been there a few times. There is no friend like our pets. Best wishes.

I am so sorry to hear that. I am glad that you put her best intrest first. In that position it is never easy and very heart breaking. I hope that you will consider getting another puppy. To help with the loss. Not that it would replace her, but just help

Becky, Sorry for your loss, don't know what i would do without my Lab that has been with us for 5yrs, he is part of the family.

Unconditional Love

Unconditional Love

It is so tough because pets give unconditional love, and a dog that you have for a long time will love you like no other given the barest amount of care.

Everyone that has kept pets for a goodly length of time will eventually have to deal with the heartbreak of the failing health of a loved family member if they have not had to already.

I cryed like a baby when our dog Ingrid had to be put to sleep.

You and your family have my sympathies Becky...:(
