How did they lie?

Like it was said before me, don't be surprised when it kills someone. It's named killer whale for a reason. It's sad that this lady had to die, but seeing it killed before, what can you expect?

They park people came on and said that the trainer slipped and fell in. Which is not true the killer whale jumped out of the water and grab her and drowned her. Now the news is says that this whale has killed 2 other people before. 1 in 1991 and 1 in 1999. The people at the park at the time of the incident have said that the whale was acting aggressive as well.

Anyone ever seen the videos of killer whales "playing" with seal carcasses? Vivid memories of watching that on the TV somewhere came back to me after hearing this case initially, especially about the grabbing and shaking around part. ::shrug:: I thought these people knew what they were doing in simulating the environment, but sometimes there just is no substitute for that natural rush....

Are the News insinuating that this is a Serial Killer Whale?

no the news is pointing out a fact that this whale has killed in the past. also that a witness said the whale had been acting weird and other trainers had said the whale had been acting aggressive. I think this whole incident could have been avoided but I guess the power of the dollar is what really mattered.

I agree with what a guy from a whale advocacy group said, these animals should be kept for an extended period and then released. I don't think it does the killer whales (and trainers for that matter) any good being in those tanks for decades.

The fact that this whale was left in the park after killing two people is irresponsible, I think. However, the trainer knew what she was dealing with, so there you go.

One of the deaths, you can't blame the whale and say can't believe left in the park after. The one death someone stayed in the park after hours and went in the tank, thats just plain stupid.

If you keep an animal captive for an extended period of time, will it lose its instinct to hunt or to be social?

No. There are clownfish that never see the ocean because their tank-bred and yet how do they know to go to an anemone? To lose an instinct I would say it would take thousands or maybe millions of years.

Can we lose our instinct to have sex? lmao. I don't think so...

thats what im saying but then the risk of it hunting like wild whales would be hard like eating seals becouse they may not eat for a while and also if it would be accepted by other whales . they might just kill him but theres only one way to find out and i dont think they wanna try it . this would mean to get another whale and train it for years .

I don't think other whales would kill him. He's 30 years old and weighs 12,000 pounds, so he can probably fend for himself. I heard in the news that it has been attempted before to release him to the wild but he never ventured out from the area where he was released. :(
