sad story: rbta+vortech

well a few days ago i went into seahorse to check it out and saw an amazing rose bubble tip anemone, i couldnt pass it up and decided to try my first anemone out. over the last few days it has been moving around to find a spot it liked and it finally settled in the worse spot ever! it was right next to a few of my sps corals and very hard to see... so i decided to move it.....

and apparently when i moved it to the side of the tank it wasnt happy and it "tried" to move. which then led to it floating up into the current of the vortech pump and choped up in the middle of the night :(

moral of the story.. DONT MOVE your anemone to the spot you want it in! AND if you have a rose bubble tip anemone you would like to sell/trade for coral let me know. ive seen quite a few RBTA's and this was one of the most colorful ive seeen... so id like to try and find one of the same caliber. The guy working at seahorse said a customer had theirs split and brought it in so im not sure if anyone knows who that may be.

it was mine. I'll let you know if/when it splits again. Really sorry to hear about your bad luck. The mother colony is probably about 18" around right now, so it may split again, although it doesn't seem to be in the greatest place in the tank. I've toyed with the idea of getting rid of it completely as it continually harrasses a very large zoa colony I have, but doesn't seem to be stinging them, just preventing them from opening up. If I do decide its time to move off from it, you'll be the first peson I contact. Sorry again about the bad news...:(

great, that wasnt hard to find the source of the anemone :) let me know when it splits. ALSO i found a piece of the anemone....looks to be the foot and its attached to a rock.. would it be out of the question if that rebounded and grew from the foot? maybe ill have to take a picture.

I've heard of it happening before. Sometimes there is no indication at all that the anenome will survive and then it just kinda shows up. Keep a close eye on it for sure.
