raoul: A drilled breeder style tank is pretty high up on my list of possibilities....so I will DEFINITELY have a sump. The reverse light cycle seems to work well for most people, depending on what type of macro you are using. Chaeto seems to be the best choice.

Most tanks do shift a little from day to night. A reverse photoperiod lighted sump may help.

I think you might want to buffer your RODI water, and top-off water. Test the water *before* you add it to your tank. Check the Sg, Ph, Ca, Alk, even PO4 if necessary.

There are 2 part additives that are easier to use, and probably more stable for a 12 gallon tank.

There are really good fourms on RC in the Chemistry section, I have found all of them very helpful.

Sorry to hear a few of your fish died.

That must be why my husband wanted the chaeto - see, techie stuff, still trying to remember those things!

Macperry. I'm sorry to read about your experiences.

A low pH is usually not that bad for your reef inhabitants. Yes, you probably should get it up some. Large, fast fluctuations are always bad unless you have some sort of emergency to deal with and have nothing to loose.

Saw a beautiful display of a Mustang and a Hornet flying in formation a few years back at Sun 'n Fun. One of my all time favorites too.
