Saddest Thing Ever

I stopped into Living Seas yesterday afternoon and they had this acan lord that was about the size of a bowling ball and had the most unique coloring I have ever seen ... unfortunately, about 80% of it had died off, completely showing the skeleton and the 20% that was left was bleached out pretty badly.

If I had only been there when the shipment arrived, it would have been such an awesome find.

you should buy it anyway, and nurse it back to health... maybe you can get it at a hugely discounted price! :D still unfortunate tho... :(

I am not sure that I have the skills to nurse a coral back to health ... folks who do should head over there ... there is plenty of nursing to do

I thought Acans were really hardy and even if there is a sliver of it alive it can still recover? I've heard this from various sources now.

Something tells me that copper got into their coral tanks or something because everything looks either dead or dying. I wouldn't try and rescue something from there, myself, but maybe some folks on here have more experience with their livestock.

copper huh? that sounds terrible :( is it true that once that stuff gets in a tank, its impossible to get out??

jjjimmy, haha yeah.. they are a bit pricey! cant mess with their selection tho! :D

Not just pricey but arrogant as well. I've heard stories about them having a dying coral in their tank and refusing to sell it for a discounted price due to the poor health of the coral. They'd rather watch it die in their tank than to sell it for cheap.

hans ... i would be more shocked to hear that they had a living, healthy coral in their tanks ... I spent about an hour there and other then some mushrooms, everything they had looked stressed, bleached, dying or dead. They had a fully bleached out white acropora skeleton for sale as well as some flumped over dead leathers for insane prices. They had an open brain skeletong for $60. It was the wierdest thing ... I can't imagine anyone buying their corals, but apparently folks do.

Discount from Living Seas??? I am not sure that I will live long enough.

Even at a discount anything from there is outta my range. Cool place to go look at......... and then go buy from a realistic source LOL>

To get the rumor mill running, I heard somewhere that Living Seas was supposedly up for sale.

BTW when did Reefdweller close? Last time I was there was in June. I PM'd Menard, but I may be out of the loop on this one.

Was he planning on re-opening, or what was the reason he closed up?
