How about the Black Apollo plumbing parts sold at Lowe's for irrigation systems??? example: Item # 194539 Model # AIMA1212

I assume the Milky White colored BrassCraft fitting are fine since they contain no lead, etc: example # 645667 Model # 128-8-8P P

Yes. The first fitting you mentioned is polyethylene and the second is nylon. Both are perfectly safe. In general, all plastics are safe while all metals are not safe.

And don't sweat any 'leak' that's always underwater, as in a barb fitting for a skimmer pump, or such: plastic hose clamps are a pita to use, but who cares if there's a 'drip' type leak underwater. Just above all don't use brass or copper: lethal to tank. Worst steel will do is rust and fail, so if there's splash near a hose clamp, check it now and again. Use a hair dryer to soften hose for a hose-barb fitting ,which is a pretty good secure way to attach a hose.

Basically plumbing pipes come in many varieties and types of metal and plastic pipes. First check for all the options, copper pipes, galvanized steel, polyvinyl chloride pipes or PVC pipes, chlorinated polyvinyl chloride pipes or CPVC pipes, cross linked polyethylene or PEX pipes ( Plastics). Copper is reliable and not prone to leaks, fits tight and sturdy, recyclable, do not pollute drinking water, heat tolerant and with long life span.
While galvanized are heavy to work with and the zinc coating causes internal rusting. At times you encounter discoloration of water.
Meanwhile take a look at this useful article on plumbing upgrades which are very useful for you http://www.brothersplumbing.ca/blog/plumbing/4-plumbing-upgrades-will-improve-homes-value/
PVC or plastic does not rust or degrade over time and is good for your home's sink, toilet, a bathtub drain lies or vent stacks, They carry high water pressure and is inexpensive easy to work with. But remember they cannot handle hot water and warps when exposed to hot water.
