Safe to frag pallys in display tank?

Sorry if it's been covered, search isn't working for me...is fragging pallys in the main tank safe for other tank inhabitants?

I need to trim back a large (softball sized) mat of pallys which are attached to a rock I can't easily remove. The plan was to cut the mat in a few sections on the outer edge with an exacto knife then peel the sections off the rock, then frag those sections up outside the tank. Just to be safe I'll refresh the carbon in my reactor before starting any cutting. Other tank inhabitants include clams, zoas SPS and a couple LPS, in addition to the usual CUC. Tank if 95g with 25g sump.

shouldn't be a problem. Now if the tank was a 5gl and the polyps covered most of it and they all started to slime then it would probably cause a problem for the other tank inhabitants. Well, I am talking protopalys but you said palys. Zoanthus, palythoas and protopalythaos all react differently, but I would be more concerned with protopalys, which slime to the touch. Carbon will help.
