safest sps tank heater

Whatever you choose make sure its plugged into a gfci and/or use a ground probe. 15$ each can save your ENTIRE tank one day. Ill be using both on my new setup.[/QUOTE said:
Don't you need both a gfci for your safety? And a grounding plug for stray voltage as heaters and a lot of power heads do not have a ground.

Jäger all the way. I've had the old ones and new ones. I've had the marineland POS heater (lost my fish to this heater) and the aquaeon heater which sticks. I must say having a controller to prevent heaters sticking is a must. Also have two smaller heaters instead of one gaint over sized one is better also.

im using titanium heater and rkl. had it reset twice in two months for no reason. found my tank and 76 degrees. in the winter it could have been catastrophic.

whats the most trust worthy heater out there that you guys use on your prized sps tanks

I honestly would not trust any of them.

I'm a big fan of rendundancy. Basically two controllers in series.
If one fails and sticks on, the second one (set at a higher temp) shuts off the heating element before your tank overheats.

An audible alarm that goes off when your tank temp is too high or too low is smart also.
:)
