Sailfin and ...

purple tang, hippo tang, yellow tang, powder blue, powder brown. Sailfins are compatible with a lot of other tangs.

You're right HappySkittles, but there are some people out there that call the whitecheek, powder brown. I agree with you that the nigricans are the whitecheek, and the japonicus are the powder browns.

when you do it, do them all at same time, i have always made sure there are odd numbers of tangs once over 5... I have had sailfin, white cheek, yellow tang, and a hippo. No problems. I have always made sure they all are interduced in close times, with in a week usually.

At the Georga aquarium the reef tank had 10 types of tangs, and probubly 200-300 total all getting along, granted it was a huge tank!

In my 300 I have a LARGE sailfin, LARGE hippo and 2 medium size yellow tangs. The sailfin is by far the bulley. He chaces the hippo all over the tank. I might try to find a new home for the sailfin soon. In my opinion fish are like people some will get along with others and some will not. Kind of like Russiun roulette! Good Luck.

With my sailfin I have a blonde naso tang. The sailfin was introduced first and had the tank to himself for a month or so before adding the naso. The first 48 hours the sailfin was a bit moody about a new guest but now the two get along great.

not only was i suggesting fish that would play nice but i was also suggesting fish that would fit

i dont think a naso, hippo or any other bigger tangs would be ok in a 135 gallon tank (if thats what you are talking about)

you already have the big sailfin (which i think a 135 is minimum for) i dont think cramming another foot long (and then some) fish in a reef tank would be the best idea

the ones i suggested were max size 75 gallon (at least from what the book i have says)
