Here are a few shots of my new sailfin tang. I picked it up last sunday and I noticed this 2 days after.

I am not sure if this could be Ich...as I haven't seen it before....so I hope not. The areas are not raised and seem to be spreading slowly and I am now noticing small areas on the other side as well (until today they were only noticeable on the one side).

Upon entry it begin to eat well picking at the algae on the rocks and had not really exhibited any strange behavior....well i saw it flash a few times on a rock, but that is a very rare occurrence. Also, the cleaner shrimp have been paying a lot of attention to it. Lastly, over the last 2 days I have witnessed two very large bowel movements, that don't seem very typical....it is large amounts of digested seaweed from what I can tell.

Anyways, not sure what else I can tell you...hopefully this was enough.

Lymphocystis usually affects the fins and tails. Develops into caulflower tumors. Viral in nature, nothing to treat it with. Good nutrition is the only thing you can do if it is Lymphocystis. I would Quarantine and treat with antibiotics any way.

Thanks Percula

I am going to have to keep an eye on it as I figure there is no way on earth I will catch this fish with ripping apart my tank and getting some bigger nets.

From what I have read it says it can spread to similar species. I only have clowns and chromis so far.....so I just have to wait and see. Im pounding the food and garlic to it now.

Is there anyway I can treat the DT with antibiotics? If so, what?

I would try Furan2 it's not suppose to affect the biofilter. I was looking at the picture of the fish again and I don't think it's ich, because it usually doesn't concentrate like that. It usually is all over the body looking like salt grains. Good luck.
