Salifert test?

I mainly use salifert test kits but have a question about them. When you put the tip on the 1ML syringe and draw the solution in do you then purge the excess air out of the syringe a couple of times or do you just put the tip on and draw it to 1ML and that is good? If you purge the air out of it a couple of times you can get the solution to about .85ML+ if you don't then it comes up to around .80ML this amount can change your results by about 100 on the magnesium tests.

I don't purge but make sure the barrel and the syrinyge is completely empty before you draw up the solution. Consistensy is the key.

do not purge the reason you come up short is because the fluid is in the tip and the number scale wasnt designed for a tip to be used. dont puge
